The Jeanine Ouderkirk Quartet will feature the talents of Kevin Grudecki on Guitar, Lou Smaldone on Bass, and Alyssa Falk Verheyn on Drums.
Saratoga local Jeanine Ouderkirk and her Quartet perform at the Putnam Place for the first time as part of the new Thursday Jazz Series. Previously she performed at the venue as the baritone saxophonist for Le Rubb and as well as a one-time appearance with Kat Wright and the Indomitable Soul Band.
The singer’s journey began with a decade of instrumental practices on piano, bass clarinet, and baritone saxophone and continued with another decade of pursuing all forms of vocalizing including two stints at Bobby Mcferrin’s Circlesongs at Omega Institute. This opportunity to improvise freely has moved Ouderkirk to pursue all forms of ensembles primarily in a trio, but everywhere from solo to larger organized Circlesongs.
Becoming an educator at The Crane School of Music has also majorly informed Jeanine’s approaches in and through music.
