SUMMARY:Last Pharaoh\, JJ Savage\, Shawn Shafran Shreds
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:00pm \nAges: 18+ \nTickets: $10 Advance / $12 Day of show \n** Click Here to Purchase Tickets ** \n  \nLast Pharaoh teams up with JJ Savage and Shawn Shafran’s Guitar Shred for a rockin’ night at Putnam Place. \n  \n \nLast Pharaoh is a melodic Power Metal/Progressive Metal/Neo-Classical band from the Hudson Valley-Westchester region of New York. Their sound features melodic and refined vocals\, blistering solos\, and a driving rhythm section. All flow fluidly well into crafted catchy songs. Recently formed\, the band consists of veteran pros with years of performing and recording experience. \nRon started playing music at a very young age. He first started on the clarinet\, but quickly switched to guitar when he heard the opening guitar riff to Alice Cooper’s\, “School’s Out.” From then on he was hooked on guitar. His band Pegasus made it to the #13 band in Ohio while he was still in High School. He then moved to New York and got a gig with William Ames (Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra) doing Neo-Classical Hard Rock/Metal. Ron studied with Kurt Rodamar\, one of Andrea Segovia’s students\, AND took lessons from Greg Howe. Ron has appeared on ESP records\, and Prisonrock records. Ron has now found a perfect musical fit in Last Pharaoh. \nTommy fell in love with\, “The Voice Of Metal” in 1982 while giving Iron Maiden’s The Number Of The Beast its first initial listen after receiving a copy from his Uncle. From there\, he took on the vocal styles of Saxon\, Iron Maiden\, Queensryche\, Dio\, King Diamond\, Grim Reaper\, Savatage\, and Helloween\, melding all those vocal aspects into his own unique style. Tommy’s vocal range is very wide and dynamic. He can switch from aggressive melodic\, (DIO) to stratospheric\, piercing falsettos (King Diamond) at the blink of an eye. Tommy’s vocal style is a perfect fit for Last Pharaoh. \nWebsite: www.facebook.com/LastPharaohMetalBand \n  \n \n  \n  \n \nJJ Savage is a rising hard rock/metal guitarist and vocalist based in Los Angeles\, originally from Albany\, NY. He began playing guitar at age 10 and went solo in 2018 after touring with various bands. In 2019\, he was honored with the Ronnie Montrose Rock the Nation Award at NAMM and performed at the “Ronnie Montrose Remembered” concert \nSavage signed with Guardians of Guitar’s imprint (Sony/Universal) and released his debut single “Junkyard Dogs” in 2019\, which reached No. 9 on the Global Top 50 Rock chart. In 2022\, he premiered “Close The Curtain” with ex-members of Death Angel and Exodus\, showcasing his blend of modern pop sensibility and classic metal might . \nKnown for channeling his experiences into his performance\, JJ’s sound is influenced by guitar icons like Zakk Wylde and Ronnie Montrose\, combining aggression\, speed\, and melodic expression. \nWebsite: www.facebook.com/1JJSAVAGE \n  \n \n  \n  \n \nShawn Shafran kicks off the night with his instrumental set highlighting guitar technique\, virtuosity\, Neo Classical inspiration\, and Shred! \nWebsite: www.facebook.com/shawnshafranshreds \n  \n  \nReturn to Calendar \n

SUMMARY:An Evening with Shadowgrass
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:00pm\nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: 18+ \nTickets: $17 Advance / $20 Day of Show \n** Click Here to Purchase Tickets ** \n  \nWhen their instrumental prowess earned them a vast following on social media\, childhood friends turned all-star act Shadowgrass found sudden success. But as a young band\, the expectations that went along with a large audience proved daunting. “We felt a lot of pressure to make something uniquely us\, because we had such a big following\, and we felt that they deserved more than what we had given them as of yet.” explains the band. The group dug deep into their own musicality\, and tried to block out the noise for their sophomore release All That Will (release date: Oct 4\, 2024). “It turned out that dropping those self-imposed expectations and just writing/making music for our own enjoyment was the key to finding our collective voice and making a record we are all proud of.” \nShadowgrass began in 2014 when Clay Russell (Banjo)\, Luke Morris (Mandolin)\, Kyser George (Guitar) were jamming at the Grayson County Fiddler’s Convention in Elk Creek\, VA. Sometime before their first real show\, the name Shadowgrass was suggested simply because they thought it sounded “cool”. Kyser\, Clay\, and Luke were 9\, 13\, and 14 years old at the time. Now in their early twenties\, their influences and listening habits have changed drastically\, but the group has always grown in the same direction musically. They have welcomed fiddle player Madison Morris\, who also lends vocals and songwriting prowess\, and bass player Evan Campfield. Luke and Madison trade off lead vocals\, and harmonies seamlessly with one another. Their commitment to and keen interest in songwriting brings additional dimensions to the band\, allowing the group to appeal to listeners outside of the expected jam-band community. \nAs a very young band that has already been playing together for a decade\, Shadowgrass has a unique bond. “We’ve grown up together and have watched each other evolve into the people we are today”\, they say. “It sounds cliche but we definitely act more like siblings than bandmates”. On All That Will\, the group explores themes of anxiety and uncertainty\, and questioning the people they want to become. Luckily\, they’ve had each other to share these experiences with\, and it seems that their companionship has only pushed their artistic and musical abilities to new heights. \nWebsite: www.shadowgrass.band \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar \n

SUMMARY:Saratoga Songwriter Night: Megan Houde & Matt Cosgrove
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 5:30pm\nShow: 6:00pm \nAges: 21+ \nTickets: FREE SHOW! \n  \nCome join us for our Saratoga Singer Songwriter Night featuring solo acoustic performances by Meghan Houde and Matt Cosgrove. \nMegan Houde is a singer/songwriter born in West Haven\, CT and now based in upstate New York. As a young girl she learned to play piano despite the challenge of being 80% deaf. She had dreams of being on a big stage with the spotlight on her performing in front of people. To pursue that\, she was enrolled in various music schools and performed in various church cabarets and school musicals (and MANY concerts in the backyard atop her monkey bars). After high school Megan relocated to Upstate New York and discovered guitar. She began writing and performing in the Lake George/Saratoga area as a solo musician and later with various bands. Those early gigs are where I found my voice and learned to connect with a crowd one room at a time. On any given weekend you could find her honing in on her craft locally\, and later touring the Northeast\, sharing stages\, chasing new sounds\, and growing through every mile. \nOver time she found a unique rhythm in performing with tribute acts. Each one brought is own kind of magic but a few became very special- particularly working with a range of incredibly talented Elvis tribute artists and performing as a vocalist for a Led Zeppelin tribute band. Those shows are a reminder of just how powerful and timeless music can be.\nToday\, she is proud to be the Co-producer and performer of the nationally touring show\, ‘A Man Named Cash- A Tribute to Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash’ . It’s a show that honors not just the music\, but the spirit and the storytelling that defined a generation- and it feels like the perfect next chapter in a journey that’s always been about heart\, authenticity\, and a love for performing. \n  \n \n  \n  \nMatt Cosgrove was born and raised in Saratoga NY\, the hidden gem of the northeast. His passion for songwriting and being a performer has led him to dedicate his career to being a musician/artist. Matt has recently finished his first Country EP in Nashville Tennessee. He lives & breathes music. Music is his identity. Matt is mostly influenced by Country music and 90’s Rock. He picked up the guitar at 10 years old\, and has been actively playing since he was 14. He is a natural performer. Matt is known for his captivating stage presence\, powerful voice\, and slick guitar solos. His goal as a performer and songwriter is to lift people up with his music and inspire them to always chase after their dreams. SUMMARY:Chris Duarte Group w /Alastair Greene
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:00pm\nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: 21+ \nTickets: $15 Advance / $20 Day of Show \n** Click Here to Purchase Tickets ** \n  \nFirebrand blues guitarist Chris Duarte dropped his sophomore album\, Texas Sugar Strat Magik\, in 1994\, and it sold an excess of 100\,000 units. It was a big success for a modern blues album. Duarte went onto win the highly coveted “Best New Talent” in Guitar Player’s Reader’s Poll\, and he finished fourth in the magazine’s “Best Blues Guitarist” category\, behind legends Eric Clapton\, Buddy Guy and B.B. King. He would go on to issue a string of critically-acclaimed blues\, blues-rock albums\, and experimental fusion-tinged albums. In the ensuing years\, Duarte would also maintain an in-demand touring schedule both as a solo artist and as a sideman. \nThroughout it all\, fans have hungered for the ferocious blues stylist to dig into some Texas blues with his own unmistakable magic. For his 15th album\, his first since 2014\, he does just that: The Austin\, Texas blues guitar slinger teems up with Texas Sugar Strat Magik producer-guitarist Dennis Herring for the first time in 22 years. The resulting album\, the gritty and sexy Ain’t Giving Up\, out September 2022 on Mascot Records\, isn’t a calculated return to roots affair\, though. Recorded live on the studio floor with vintage gear and with minimal overdubs\, this is a raw and revved-up showcase for the blues virtuoso’s jaw-dropping chops; his mastery of the elusive Texas shuffle; and his deep love and commitment to the blues. \n“I planted my flag with Strat Magik\, and on this album I am pushing the music forward. I’ve explored lots of different facets of my playing\, but this album says\, ‘I’m here\, and I’m not giving up on blues or my career\,’” Duarte says. He continues: “And I’m not playing it safe\, either—the solos were all tracked live.” \nDuarte has been known for his physical and athletic playing style—he often plays so hard his fingers bleed while he’s onstage (there are photos to prove this legend). Because of this fiery dedication\, many fans and critics have playfully referred to his music as “punk blues” or “rockin’ blues.” “My style is super aggressive and physical\,” Duarte affirms. “These days I’m a bit older\, but I still put as much heart into my playing as I ever did—I still love playing.” \nThe guitarist\, singer\, and songwriter came up as a force to be reckoned with in the 1990s Austin\, Texas roots and blues scene. He rose to prominence in the wake of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s passing\, and was noted for his muscular playing style; his jazz and rock n’ roll-infused blues solos; and his command of the Texas blues tradition. Because of these soulfully virtuosic qualities\, Duarte was often compared to the beloved modern blues icon\, SRV. “I wish I was the whiz people think I am\,” he says with a good-natured laugh. “Whatever skills I have\, have taken years to gain—I practice a lot.” He continues: “I still want to be great and make my mark. I listen to SRV\, Jimmie Vaughan\, and others\, and I always get inspired to carry on the Texas blues tradition.” \nSince those early days\, Duarte has carved his own niche through a series of beloved blues-flavored albums\, and a calendar of more than 150 dates a year which includes performances billed as Chris Duarte and as The Chris Duarte Group. In both of these contexts\, Duarte has headlined major festivals and clubs throughout the US\, Canada\, and Europe. A series of explosive North Carolina shows were filmed for the PBS television show\, The PBS Project. Apart from his solo career\, Duarte has performed with Julie Burrell\, Diana Cantu\, Bobby Mack\, Tracy Conover\, Indigenous\, Omar & the Howlers\, and the Americana band Beth Lee & The Breakups. Incidentally\, Beth is Duarte’s girlfriend\, and she co-wrote many tracks on Ain’t Giving Up. \nAin’t Giving Up siphons from the same spirit as Texas Sugar\, but the new album is definitely its own monster. The album was tracked live as a trio with Texas Sugar drummer Brannen Temple\, but it also features a rhythm machine with some raw\, looped beat patterns Duarte plays over\, much like the same funky groove stylings as on J.J. Cale’s iconic 1971 album Naturally. “This album explores a wider spectrum of musicality\,” shares Duarte. “I love Muddy Water and Howlin’ Wolf\, but also feel like it’s part of me to introduce some unexpected influences. For this album\, I didn’t feel scared to explore beyond hard driving blues. I view this as expanding on the format that I love.” \nAin’t Giving Up is intimate and gritty\, but it also boasts pristine fidelity\, as if we the listener are in the studio with Duarte and his buddies. The album is a reset for Duarte that shows his resilience and his undiminished love of the blues. “I am so grateful to be signed to Provogue and to work with Dennis again—it’s been a dream come true\,” Duarte enthuses. “I have been so fortunate to play music and do my thing for almost 30 years\, and I couldn’t ask for a better life.” \nWebsite: www.duarte.rocks \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \n \nA native of Santa Barbara\, California and now residing in Austin\, Texas Alastair Greene has ridden his Blues-soaked rock into the 21st century\, traversing a constantly changing global (and musical) landscape. He’s well-equipped for the challenge\, carrying the diverse musical interests he developed at an early age\, intrigued by his mother’s piano-playing and a record collection that included The Beatles\, Stevie Wonder\, and Elton John. His father introduced the youngster to the sophistication of Bach and Beethoven\, yet it was Greene’s grandfather\, the late trumpeter Chico Alvarez- a member of the Stan Kenton Band in the 1940s and ’50s- who inspired him to pursue a life in music. \nHe received a scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston\, where he studied for two years\, before returning in the early ‘90s to Southern California. Greene formed the Alastair Greene Band in 1997 and subsequently released eight solo albums (including two live sets and a compilation record) over nearly 20 years. 2017’s studio effort\, Dream Team\, landed a four-star review and Best Album of the Year nod in DownBeat; 2018’s Live from the 805 was nominated for Rock Blues Album of the Year by Blues Blast Magazine\, garnering inclusion on many ‘Best of 2018’ lists. \nA much in-demand guitarist and vocalist\, Greene traveled the world\, touring with the legendary Alan Parsons Live Project from 2010 – 2017\, as well as stints with Starship featuring Mickey Thomas and\, most recently\, (2018-2019) Blues Music Award-winner Sugaray Rayford. His work with Parsons\, in particular\, sparked a conversation with renowned multi-instrumentalist and producer Tab Benoit at a Las Vegas blues festival. In 2019\, Greene signed with Benoit’s Whiskey Bayou Records label and released 2 records\, “The New World Blues’ (2020) and “Alive In The New World” (2023). Greene toured the U.S. consistently in 2021 and 2022 opening over 100 shows for Benoit. \nAfter running into Thomas Ruf on a tour of Germany in 2022 opening for Walter Trout Alastair signed signed with Ruf Records and released Standing Out Loud in May of 2024. Standing Out Loud was produced by Greene. 8 of the albums 11 tracks were recorded in Nashville\, TN with JD Simo and the remaining 3 songs were recorded in Greene’s adopted hometown of Austin\, TX with Hunter St.Marie. \nWith a strong batch of original songs rooted in blues and southern rock traditions\, STANDING OUT LOUD builds upon the momentum created by his critically acclaimed solo releases of recent years. “Teaming up with Ruf Records for this album feels like a natural and perfect fit for the progression of my career\,” says the California native and multi-charting Billboard artist that Blues Music Magazine called “a major talent in the blues-rock category.” \nWith the album complete\, Greene is itching to hit the road. His 2024 tour schedule included festival and club dates across the U.S. and over 40 European dates. “I’ve toured Europe many times as the guitarist with the Alan Parsons Live Project\, and I’m excited to be bringing my music to the people.” \nWebsite: www.alastairgreene.com \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar

SUMMARY:The Wheel: Live Dead & Beyond
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 8:00pm\nShow: 9:00pm \nAges: 21+ \nTickets: $15 Advance / $20 Day of Show \n** The online presale period for this show has ended. Tickets will be available at the door. \n  \nBuckle up\, put it in gear\, and enjoy the ride with NY Capital Region’s authentic sounding Grateful Dead tribute band\, The Wheel as they put their driving spin on the music you love and enjoy. \n“The Wheel brings a big\, danceable groove to the party\, driven by the deep pocket of rhythm guitarist and bandleader Andy Morse\, bassist Dave Pallas\, drummer Bob McKeon and percussionist Pete Andriakos. They provide an unshakable foundation over which lead guitarist Bryan Gautie and keyboardist Kenny Schneidman weave solo after evocative solo together with virtuosity and taste.  Yet they are also capable of complex\, interwoven conversations that display the nuance and dynamic range of the Dead’s music in quieter\, more blissful passages. Vocally\, The Wheel possesses a diverse blend of styles\, from Morse’s smooth\, heartfelt delivery\, Schneidman’s full-throated soul\, and Bryan Gautie’s Jerry Garcia-like tenderness.” – Nippertown \nAndy Morse: (Rhythm guitar and vocals) With a deep love calling Andy to explore the musical roots of GD music\, Andy formed The Wheel originally as an acoustic duo in 2010 along with Dave Pallas. To many a family Andy is also known as Andy “The Music Man” (www.andysings.com) specializing in music for children full time since 1995. Andy studied under Mathew Smith currently of Six String Ranch in Austin TX. Andy has played with Rainbow Full of Sound\, Duck Duck Goose\, and Fearsome Critters. \nBob McKeon (Drums) Bob’s lifelong fascination with music\, and in particular drumming\, began as a child playing his dad’s Ringo-inspired 1960s Ludwig drum set\, which has been part of his life ever since.  Bob has been supporting many talented musicians and bands in the Capital Region and beyond ever since\, including Unclaimed Freight\, High Peaks Band\, and The Brokedown.  Since 2012\, Bob has intermittently supported The Garcia Project\, touring the northeast United States and southern California\, where he has shared the stage with Jerry Garcia Band members Melvin Seals\, Maria Muldaur\, and Jaclyn LaBranch. You can still catch Bob sitting-in with a variety of acts throughout the Capital Region. \nBryan Gautie: (Lead guitar and vocals) Bryan joined The Wheel in the summer of 2015 adding his dead on 70’s style of Jerry leads driving the band down the road to colorful destinations. Bryan unknowingly followed a similar path of Jerry\, studying bluegrass and then eventually discovering the music of the Grateful Dead. Gratefully he still has all ten fingers. Bryan has played in Ice Nine\, Yukon Cornelius and Slipknot. \nDr. Dave Pallas: (5 string bass) The Dr. is in session! When you’re not sitting on the couch in front of him you’ll find him supporting the back bone of the beat while adventuring into uncharted waters. No life raft needed. Dave has played in many bands over the years\, Duck Duck Goose\, The Swing Docs\, Missing Link. Andy and Dave have been jamming together on a consistent basis since 1985\, life long musical friends. \nKenny Schneidman (keys\, vox\, graphic art) is an artist and musician living in Woodstock\, NY. His musical roots trace back to his child hood\, beginning with traditional classical piano lessons at the tender age of 8. Kenny played in numerous bands with silly names likes Devil’s Chamber\, Mark Twang\, and Stone Deaf\, as well as one of the earliest Grateful Dead cover bands on the planet\, the Lost Highway Ramblers\, from 1977-1981\, with occasional reunions when the opportunity arises. He currently handles the keyboards and vocal duties with the Misty Mountain Ramblers\, a Woodstock based band of seasoned musicians. He often sits in with other bands throughout the region. \nDr. Pete Andriakos (percussion) When you’re not on “Dr. Sleep’s” surgery table you’ll find him adding many beautiful colors and rhythmic patterns to complete the canvas of The Wheel’s rhythmic section. Pete also plays in the Nolanauts. \nWebsite: www.thewheelband.com \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar \n

SUMMARY:A Little Overboard\, VinTri Hill\, Sons of Eden and Seize Atlantis
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 6:00pm\nShow: 6:30pm \nAges: 21+ \nTickets: $15 Advance / $20 Day of Show \n** Click Here to Purchase Tickets ** \n  \nA Little Overboard teams up with VinTri Hill\, Sons of Eden and Seize Atlantis for a rockin’ night at Putnam Place. \n  \n \nA Little Overboard is a 5 piece all original Pop-Rock band from Saratoga Springs NY. The band was established in 2022. Our debut album ‘Lies Of Lovers’ was released in January 2024. \nWebsite: www.alittleoverboardofficial.com \n  \n \n  \n  \n \nVinTri Hill (vin-tree hill) began in 2019 as a small-school cover band that was halted due to Covid lockdowns. During that time Vincenzo Baldwin performed a daily Facebook concert series and was recognized by local media (article) for his dedication to giving something for people to look forward to. With remote learning and quarantines in full swing\, Baldwin went on to write more than 80 original songs with a vision to shift the band to a unique Punk Rock driving force. With Dimitri Cerrone on board and laying down rhythmic and furious drum tracks\, the duo got back together and forged ahead with a passion and goal to revive the sound of early 90’s punk. In November 2024\, life-long friend and talented musician\, Tyler Munson\, joined the band\, making VinTri Hill a 3 piece\, and helping round out their vision and sound. \nWebsite: www.vintrihill.com \n  \n \n  \n  \n \nRock\, metal\, grunge\, alternative; Sons of Eden has heard all of these as perceptions of their genre. The truth is they’re not concerned with fitting into any of these boxes\, they write music that they feel passionate about and that moves them. Sons of Eden\, from Albany New York\, looks to innovate and develop a signature sound unlike what’s been done and heard before. Their latest single\, Swallowed Whole\, snakes through grinding riffage\, sludgy choruses\, and a levitating guitar solo\, and with each release they plan to continue to challenge the boundaries of these genres. \nWebsite: www.sonsofeden.bandzoogle.com \n  \n \n  \n  \n \nFormed in 2019 out of Glens Falls in Upstate New York\, Seize Atlantis is an energetic four-piece rock band consisting of front-man James Mullen (lead vocals/guitar)\, Luc Bourgault (lead guitar)\, Chris Walker (bass guitar) and Cody Platt (drums). Seize Atlantis has a unique and tight sound fueled by a driving & punchy drum/bass duo\, melodic lead guitar\, and strong\, moody vocals with meaningful lyrics that bring a truly dynamic range of soft to heavy rock. Their influences are from bands such as Foo Fighters\, Red Hot Chili Peppers\, Pearl Jam\, along with 90s-00s Rock. The band offers their own spin on a variety of covers from classic rock to modern pop in addition to their own original music. They’ve recently taken home some hardware winning two 2023 Capital District Digital ListenUp Awards (Rock/Hard Rock & Progressive Rock)\, the 2023 NYS Music March Madness title\, and a nomination for the 2024 Eddies Awards (Capital Region Music Awards) for Rock/Pop Artist of the year. \nWebsite: www.seizeatlantis.bandcamp.com \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar \n

SUMMARY:Dead Man's Waltz
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:00pm\nShow: 7:30pm \nAges: 18+ \nTickets: $17 Advance / $20 Day of Show \n** Click Here to Purchase Tickets ** \n  \nInterweaving the classic songs and jams of The Grateful Dead\, The Allman Brothers Band and The Band\, Dead Man’s Waltz is an all-star collective from the Northeast festival scene. Dead Man’s Waltz features top-notch musicianship and offers a refreshing twist to the music of three legendary and iconic bands. While staying true to the spirit of the music\, the band members put their own dynamic spin on a vast catalog of beloved songs that are now part of the new American song book. \nAt its core\, DMW is a celebration of the long standing tradition of crossover between The Dead\, The Allmans and The Band\, culminating with the legendary 1973 Summer Jam Music Festival in Watkin’s Glenn\, NY where the three bands performed together. DMW’s arrangements are experiments\, as they easily flow from the familiar to the obscure\, moving from standards like “Jessica” into “Going Down The Road Feeling Bad” into “Don’t Do It” or “Up On Cripple Creek” into “They Love Each Other” into “Midnight Rider”. The band always keeps it fresh with new and unexpected arrangements and improvisations\, while engaging fans in the free-spirited party and colorful\, close-knit community surrounding their shows. \nWith 2 drummers\, DMW’s line-up mirrors those of both The Dead and The Allmans as well as later line-ups of The Band. Dead Man’s Waltz features the all-star lineup of “Rev” Tor Krautter on guitar and vocals\, Tom Major on drums\, Parker McQueeney on keys and vocals\, Wesley Childers on guitar and vocals\, Jeff Prescott on drums and vocals\, and Brian O’Connell on bass and vocals. Each hail from a unique musical background and adds their own personal style\, influence and character to the mix (which is exactly what the music calls for). \nWebsite: www.deadmanswaltz.com \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar \n

SUMMARY:LaMP ft: Russ Lawton\, Scott Metzger\, Ray Paczkowski w/ The E-Block
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:00pm\nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: 18+ \nTickets: $20 Advance / $25 Day of Show \n** Click Here to Purchase Tickets ** \n  \nLaMP performs at Putnam Place on their “Road to Northlands.” \nOn a magical night at Nectar’s\, in Burlington\, VT\, in December of 2018\, three musical masters — Russ Lawton\, Scott Metzger and Ray Paczkowski — came together with alchemical synthesis\, and created a fresh\, so-tight-it’s-free sound\, permeated with technical prowess and a deep-pocket punch. The packed house fortunate enough to be in attendance that night witnessed the birth of something very special: LaMP. \nMetzger\, described by The Village Voice as “…an ace guitarist of a thousand styles\,” and a full-time member of the beloved Joe Russo’s Almost Dead\, tested the decades-strong synergy between Lawton and Paczkowski\, forged from their time playing with Trey Anastasio Band and their duo project Soule Monde. The melodic and harmonic interplay of Paczkowski’s swirling organ and clavinet dancing with Metzger’s acrobatic melodies on telecaster\, both driven by Lawton’s unflappable backbeat\, produces music that is immediate and irresistible. \nIt’s the chemistry that drives LaMP’s newest studio album\, “One Of Us\,” which arrives on March 21 via Royal Potato Family. The trio previewed the record with the lead single\, “Jasper’s World.” \n“One of Us” follows LaMP’s 2024 release\, “Live At Nectar’s\,” captured at the famed Burlington club where the band formed. The new studio effort — cut at Ben Collette’s Tank Recording Studio in Burlington — marks the trio’s first since releasing their 2020 self-titled debut album. \n“This record has more of a gritty\, edgy sound to it compared to our first one\,” Metzger said of “One Of Us.” “The first album felt clean and smooth. ‘One Of Us’ has more attitude. It still emphasizes melody\, groove\, and accessibility like the first record\, but this one feels like we’ve got some more miles under our belt\, which makes sense since 2024 was a big year for our little band. \n“Most of these tunes started from beats Russ sent around\, and Ray or I would put down a harmonic or melodic idea we thought captured the mood of the groove\,” Metzger added. \n“LaMP definitely started with a sound right from the first show and it continues to grow as we write new songs\,” Lawton said. “Someone will come in with a song — or I’ll pass along a rhythmic concept — and we’ll build from there.” \n“It’s the next sounds of three musicians who are playing what they feel\, and feeling it as one\,” Paczkowski added. “The album is called One Of Us\, but if there is a theme to this record\, it might be ‘three of us.’ We’re all writers in the sense of courting some kind of inspiration\, a melody\, a rhythm\, a vibe; feeling some kind of spark and bringing it to the band. The goal was to get a fire going. \nWebsite: www.ilikelamp.com \n  \n \n  \n  \n \nThe E-Block is a 4-piece R&B band originated in upstate New York\, blending the acoustic warmth of singer-songwriter music with an ice-cold rhythm section informed by modern R&B. With a deep bag of influences and free-flowing style\, The E-Block has earned a reputation as a unique live act in the New York scene and beyond. \nWebsite: www.theblock.com \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar
