SUMMARY:Kung Fu w/ Sophistafunk
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:00pm\nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: 21+ \nTickets: $20 Advance / $25 Day of Show \n** Click Here to Purchase Tickets ** \n  \nDon’t miss a rare performance by funk powerhouse Kung Fu with special guest Sophistafunk. \nProud to be firmly installed in the new-funk movement\, KUNG FU is quickly popularizing their unique sonic contribution\, blurring the line between intense electro-fusion\, and blistering dance arrangements.  Making fusion music “cool” again\, the band draws on influences such as early Headhunters and Weather Report\, and merges those ideas with a contemporary EDM informed sensibility.  Imagine 70’s funk-fusion meets a modern dance party! \nAlthough the ensemble cast enjoys a seasoned pedigree that reads like a late-night summer festival all-star jam\, this fledgling “nu-sion” project is growing a unique and rabid following by commanding audiences at theaters\, clubs\, and major national festivals since 2012.  \nKung Fu features Tim Palmieri (guitar & vocals)\, Robert Somerville (tenor sax & vocals)\, Beau Sasser (keyboards & vocals)\, Chris DeAngelis (bass guitar & vocals)\, and Adrian Tramontano (drums/percussion).  The powerhouse quintet’s live show has been described by critics and fans alike as “lethal funk”\, “explosive”\, “jaw dropping”\, and “musically mesmerizing”.  For the uninitiated\, the experience is typically shocking yet the focus is simple: just sit back and enjoy the ride! \nWebsite: www.facebook.com/kungfutunes \n  \n \n  \n  \n \nSophistafunk is rooted in undeniable musicianship and authenticity\, blending intoxicating beats with mind-expanding flows. Mad scientist Adam Gold is known for his heavy synth basslines and funky vocals. He plays four vintage keyboards at the same time\, sometimes even while beatboxing! Gospel trained drummer and singer Emanuel Washington combines neo-soul with deep house\, reggae\, and more. Frontman / emcee Jack Brown evokes comparisons from Mac Miller to Michael Frantí\, but his lyrical skill and conscious vibes are truly one of a kind. The band also features musical guests\, ranging from brass instruments to guitars\, turntablists\, female singers\, & other surprises. Lately\, they’ve been touring with sax powerhouse Tommy Weeks of the Funky Dawgz Brass Band. \nSophistafunk is for music lovers. Through the years\, they’ve become one of the most exhilarating and fulfilling live music experiences around. They blend genres as a broader analogy for people coming together\, leaving audiences with an undeniable afterglow of funky positivity. For years\, Sophistafunk has been pioneers on the live music circuit\, unafraid to push boundaries with their sounds and their messages. And now the whole world is finding out. Catch a show\, and join the party! \nWebsite: www.sophistafunkband.com \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar \n
