SUMMARY:Kung Fu w/ Night Zero
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:00pm\nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: 18+ \nTickets: $20 Advance / $25 Day of Show \n** Click Here to Purchase Tickets ** \n  \nDon’t miss a rare performance by funk powerhouse Kung Fu with special guest Night Zero. This show is part of New York State Music’s Jam for Tots Series. The one you swear you’ll take it easy—but never do. Night Zero is the pre-party that becomes the main event\, the night out you didn’t see coming but won’t soon forget. And now\, it’s a band. \nThis rotating cast of incredible artists brings together some of the jam scene’s most revered players for a raw\, unscripted throwdown that blends rock\, funk\, jazz\, and deep improvisation with nothing off-limits. \nThe core lineup is a one-of-a-kind fusion of styles and personalities\, rarely seen together on one stage. Rob Compa (Dopapod)\, known for his mind-bending guitar work and precision improvisation. Zdenek Gubb (Twiddle)\, whose unmistakable bass tone and groove drive every jam with grit and finesse. Adrian Tramontano (Kung Fu/Twiddle)\, a rhythmic powerhouse with jaw-dropping chops and relentless energy. Leon Campos (Dwight & Nicole)\, whose warm\, soulful keys bring depth and color to every note. \nThese are players who don’t just complement each other—they push each other\, unlocking something new every time they play. The kind of chemistry you can’t plan\, only discover—when the right musicians collide at the right moment. \nNight Zero —never planned\, always unforgettable.” \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar

SUMMARY:The Wheel: Live Dead & Beyond
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:30pm\nShow: 8:00pm \nAges: 21+ \nTickets: $15 Advance / $20 Day of Show \n** The online presale period for this show has ended. Tickets will be available at the door. \n  \nBuckle up\, put it in gear\, and enjoy the ride with NY Capital Region’s authentic sounding Grateful Dead tribute band\, The Wheel as they put their driving spin on the music you love and enjoy. \n“The Wheel brings a big\, danceable groove to the party\, driven by the deep pocket of rhythm guitarist and bandleader Andy Morse\, bassist Dave Pallas\, drummer Bob McKeon and percussionist Pete Andriakos. They provide an unshakable foundation over which lead guitarist Bryan Gautie and keyboardist Kenny Schneidman weave solo after evocative solo together with virtuosity and taste.  Yet they are also capable of complex\, interwoven conversations that display the nuance and dynamic range of the Dead’s music in quieter\, more blissful passages. Vocally\, The Wheel possesses a diverse blend of styles\, from Morse’s smooth\, heartfelt delivery\, Schneidman’s full-throated soul\, and Bryan Gautie’s Jerry Garcia-like tenderness.” – Nippertown \nAndy Morse: (Rhythm guitar and vocals) With a deep love calling Andy to explore the musical roots of GD music\, Andy formed The Wheel originally as an acoustic duo in 2010 along with Dave Pallas. To many a family Andy is also known as Andy “The Music Man” (www.andysings.com) specializing in music for children full time since 1995. Andy studied under Mathew Smith currently of Six String Ranch in Austin TX. Andy has played with Rainbow Full of Sound\, Duck Duck Goose\, and Fearsome Critters. \nBob McKeon (Drums) Bob’s lifelong fascination with music\, and in particular drumming\, began as a child playing his dad’s Ringo-inspired 1960s Ludwig drum set\, which has been part of his life ever since.  Bob has been supporting many talented musicians and bands in the Capital Region and beyond ever since\, including Unclaimed Freight\, High Peaks Band\, and The Brokedown.  Since 2012\, Bob has intermittently supported The Garcia Project\, touring the northeast United States and southern California\, where he has shared the stage with Jerry Garcia Band members Melvin Seals\, Maria Muldaur\, and Jaclyn LaBranch. You can still catch Bob sitting-in with a variety of acts throughout the Capital Region. \nBryan Gautie: (Lead guitar and vocals) Bryan joined The Wheel in the summer of 2015 adding his dead on 70’s style of Jerry leads driving the band down the road to colorful destinations. Bryan unknowingly followed a similar path of Jerry\, studying bluegrass and then eventually discovering the music of the Grateful Dead. Gratefully he still has all ten fingers. Bryan has played in Ice Nine\, Yukon Cornelius and Slipknot. \nDr. Dave Pallas: (5 string bass) The Dr. is in session! When you’re not sitting on the couch in front of him you’ll find him supporting the back bone of the beat while adventuring into uncharted waters. No life raft needed. Dave has played in many bands over the years\, Duck Duck Goose\, The Swing Docs\, Missing Link. Andy and Dave have been jamming together on a consistent basis since 1985\, life long musical friends. \nKenny Schneidman (keys\, vox\, graphic art) is an artist and musician living in Woodstock\, NY. His musical roots trace back to his child hood\, beginning with traditional classical piano lessons at the tender age of 8. Kenny played in numerous bands with silly names likes Devil’s Chamber\, Mark Twang\, and Stone Deaf\, as well as one of the earliest Grateful Dead cover bands on the planet\, the Lost Highway Ramblers\, from 1977-1981\, with occasional reunions when the opportunity arises. He currently handles the keyboards and vocal duties with the Misty Mountain Ramblers\, a Woodstock based band of seasoned musicians. He often sits in with other bands throughout the region. \nDr. Pete Andriakos (percussion) When you’re not on “Dr. Sleep’s” surgery table you’ll find him adding many beautiful colors and rhythmic patterns to complete the canvas of The Wheel’s rhythmic section. Pete also plays in the Nolanauts. \nWebsite: www.thewheelband.com \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar \n

SUMMARY:Ryan Montbleau Band w/ Kellen Asebroek (Fruition)
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:30pm\nShow: 8:30pm \nAges: 18+ \nTickets: $25 Advance / $30 Day of Show \n** Click Here to Purchase Tickets ** \n  \nA relentless road warrior and masterful wordsmith\, Ryan Montbleau has spent the better part of thirty years cultivating a devoted audience on the strength of his ecstatic live shows and exhilarating sonic versatility. He’s collaborated with artists as diverse as Trombone Shorty\, Galactic\, Steel Pulse\, Tall Heights\, Martin Sexton\, Anders Osborne\, and George Porter\, Jr; shared bills with the likes of Tedeschi Trucks Band\, Ani DiFranco\, Todd Snider\, The Wood Brothers\, Rodrigo y Gabriela\, and Mavis Staples; and racked up more than 150 million streams on Spotify alone. NPR’s Mountain Stage compared his “eloquent\, soulful songwriting” to Bill Withers and James Taylor\, while Relix celebrated his “poetic Americana\,” and The Boston Herald raved that “he’s made a career of confident\, danceable positivity.” \nMontbleau’s freewheeling new album finds him exploring the full spectrum of his influences like never before\, touching on folk\, rock\, funk\, soul\, hip-hop\, and reggae\, all with a preternatural ease that belies the intensely focused craftsmanship behind it. The songs are sprawling and unpredictable\, grappling with a modern world perpetually teetering on the edge of chaos\, but the performances are relentlessly optimistic\, insisting on hope and joy in the face of it all. The result is Montbleau’s most vulnerable and cathartic work yet\, an album that acknowledges the inevitability of doubt and pain while at the same time celebrating our limitless capacity for growth and love. \nWebsite: www.ryanmontbleau.com \n  \n \n  \n  \n \nKellen Asebroek will kick of the evening with a solo set of acoustic folk/soul. Known to some for his role as a songwriter\, singer\, and multi-instrumentalist in Portland OR Americana band Fruition\, Asebroek’s existential solo offerings cover love\, death\, political frustration and a cheery cynicsm of the human condition. With influences ranging from Erykah Badu to Johnny Cash\, and 20+ years of performing everywhere from street corners to amphitheaters\, the soul is genuine and the aim is true. \nWebsite: www.fruitionband.com \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar \n

SUMMARY:Chali 2na & Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5) w/ Sophistafunk
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 7:30pm\nShow: 8:30pm \nAges: 18+ \nTickets: $25 Advance / $30 Day of Show \n** Click Here to Purchase Tickets ** \n  \nChali 2na and Cut Chemist have been inseparable for 35 years. It all started in 1987 when they formed their first group UNITY Committee just a couple years after Chali move from Chicago to Los Angeles. \nIn 1994 they combined forces with local rap group Rebels Of Rhythm to form Jurassic 5. Although J5 was in full swing making music and doing shows\, Chali and Cut also were founding members of the fusion Latin group Ozomatli in 1995. Since then the two have been busy with both groups and still managed to find time to separate and embark in solo careers on the side. Cut Chemist went on to do remixes and features for such acts as DJ Shadow\, Less Than Jake and Blackalicious. Chali also explored his rap prowess with such acts as Roots Manuva\, Lyrics Born\, Slightly Stoopid and Galactic just to name a few. Separately they also landed solo deals with Interscope and Warner Brothers. \nThe two have kept busy with their own separate careers while always finding time to collaborate. It’s a 35 year old friendship that manifests into music and art. \nFor the last three years they’ve been doing a special collaborative performance that tells the story of their lives in music together. The catalogue is as endless as the time they spent together creating over the years. \nChali 2na Website: www.chali2na.com \nCut Chemist Website: www.cutchemist.com \n  \n \n  \n  \n \nSophistafunk is rooted in undeniable musicianship and authenticity\, blending intoxicating beats with mind-expanding flows. Mad scientist Adam Gold is known for his heavy synth basslines and funky vocals. He plays four vintage keyboards at the same time\, sometimes even while beatboxing! Gospel trained drummer and singer Emanuel Washington combines neo-soul with deep house\, reggae\, and more. Frontman / emcee Jack Brown evokes comparisons from Mac Miller to Michael Frantí\, but his lyrical skill and conscious vibes are truly one of a kind. The band also features musical guests\, ranging from brass instruments to guitars\, turntablists\, female singers\, & other surprises. Lately\, they’ve been touring with sax powerhouse Tommy Weeks of the Funky Dawgz Brass Band. \nSophistafunk is for music lovers. Through the years\, they’ve become one of the most exhilarating and fulfilling live music experiences around. They blend genres as a broader analogy for people coming together\, leaving audiences with an undeniable afterglow of funky positivity. For years\, Sophistafunk has been pioneers on the live music circuit\, unafraid to push boundaries with their sounds and their messages. And now the whole world is finding out. Catch a show\, and join the party! \nWebsite: www.sophistafunkband.com \n  \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar

Between Mihali’s BeatBoxing and Zdenek’s percussive bass lines they are able to create a variety of beats that fill out there sound and enable them to create the full band vibe that makes them so much fun to see live. With ripping solo’s and spot on vocal harmonies these two guys are able to captivate music lovers from all over the world time and time again. \nWebsite: www.facebook.com/Gubbulidis \n  \n \n  \n  \n \nWhat started as two college lacrosse players writing songs on the off season turned into a musical journey that has traveled all over the U.S. In 2007 Annie in the Water formulated as an acoustic duo made up of Brad Hester and Michael Lashomb\, looping not only eclectic covers but also writing & performing their original music. The Annie in the Water duo mixes a rootsy/folky/trad Celtic feeling with an upbeat jammy vibe that keeps people moving. With layered loops\, blending harmonies and ascending lead guitar\, both brad and Michael weave their unique voices and guitar abilities to produce a sound that feels much bigger than two performers. Over the years\, they grew out of college towns and dive bars and moved onto bigger stages. They have also since expanded their line up to a 5 piece band which encapsulates the full strength and experience that is Annie in the Water which you can find touring the country. \nWebsite: www.annieinthewater.com \n  \n \n  \nReturn to Website

SUMMARY:Neon Avenue
DESCRIPTION:Doors: 6:30pm\nShow: 7:30pm \nAges: 18+ \nTickets: $20 Advance \n** Click Here to Purchase Tickets ** \n\n  \nCelebrate the 55th Anniversary of Greg Bell’s first Grateful Dead Show with Neon Avenue. \nBorn from the depths of the 2020 Pandemic\, this group of Capital Region musicians came together for what felt like necessity. With the stalling of the music industry\, a creative outlet was needed for these 5 individuals. What was first a casual get together playing some dead tunes quickly escalated into a singular goal of putting together a live stream. Something special happened during these early sessions and a “one-and-done” livestream turned into something much more. \nIn less than 2 years as a band\, Neon Avenue has made quite a stir in the ever popular (and saturated) Gratefully-inspired tribute scene\, growing quickly to become one of the bigger draws in the Upstate NY capital region Dead scene. The band brings a fresh take on the Grateful music that you know and love while placing an emphasis on improvisation\, unique setlist construction\, deeper cuts into the grateful songbook and a primal energy that they draw from their loyal fans during live performances. With past appearances at the Town of Hoosick Falls concert series\, Long Lake’s “Meat.Beer.Music” music festival\, as well as scheduled appearances at Lake George Steamboat Company’s “Rock the Dock Music Festival”\, “Rockin’ on the River” for the city of Troy\, and numerous headlining shows around the Capital region\, the word has certainly gotten out about this band. Composed of veteran musicians from numerous local groups like Formula 5\, Slipknot! (80’s/90’s Dead tribute)\, Stone Revival Band\, Knot Dead\, Jocamo\, and more\, this combination of players has set out to push the boundaries of the standard Dead tribute. \nThe group of Joe Davis (Formula 5)\, Mike Urbon (Knot Dead)\, Mike Cassels (Stone Revival Band\, Jocamo\, Knot Dead)\, Mike McDonald (Formula 5\, Knot Dead) and Doug Klein (Slipknot\, Robanic\, Knot Dead) were re-inspired playing the music of the Grateful Dead\, Jerry Garcia Band\, Ratdog\, and others. While existing in an endless sea of 1970’s era Grateful Dead tributes\, this group strives to separate itself with a dedication to unique arrangements of setlists and song segues\, utilizing extended improvisation\, playing deeper cuts from all eras of the Dead\, JGB\, and Ratdog songbook. \nWebsite: www.neonavenuedead.com \n\n  \n \n  \nReturn to Calendar \n  \n
