Around that same time\, Sly was writing songs to navigate a difficult chapter in his life and was beginning to emerge as a compelling frontman. \n“Sean and I had been playing guitars together and writing songs since we were twelve years old and he had always been the singer\,” says Sly. “After Sean went solo\, I was going through some tough times that inspired me to write deeply personal songs. They felt too honest to hand off to anyone else. I had to sing them myself to fully express the emotion. I became a singer out of necessity\, and those songs became my first album\, The Low Life.” \nAfter experimenting with several lineups and releasing his second album\, American Gypsy\, Sly’s vision for a powerhouse live band finally came to life when he recruited Johnny Ellis on bass and Sean Ireland on drums. The brainchild of ace Boston guitarists Ryan Taylor and Johnny Trama\, this collective\, more than a mere homage\, harness the Allman Brothers tradition as a vehicle to bring a unique and exciting experience every night. \nMatt Zeiner began his professional music career touring with Matt “Guitar” Murphy\, who exposed him to a fusion of blues and jazz. His career took a significant turn in 2000 when Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers Band recruited him as a keyboardist and vocalist\, leading to a fruitful collaboration and tour. Zeiner’s own songwriting flourished during this time\, contributing notably to the band’s repertoire. Drawing from blues\, soul\, funk\, and rock influences\, Fox developed his musical roots alongside longtime friend and collaborator Sean Rowe\, with whom he began playing guitar and writing songs as a teenager. After Rowe launched his solo career\, Fox stepped into the spotlight as a singer-songwriter\, channeling personal experiences into original material that became the foundation of Sly Fox and the Hustlers. The music ranges from stripped down jazz-grooves to analog synth dance music. Influences such as Herbie Hancock jazz-funk and Four Tet electronica can be heard.
