The only authentic reggae band in upstate New York, Robanic plays a wide and colorful range of Caribbean music including old-school reggae, traditional rock-steady, ska, calypso, contemporary lovers rock, as well as the hottest new dance-hall sound from Jamaica. The five-member ensemble is made up of talented musicians with decades of experience.

Bandleader, bass player, vocal and music arranger, Aston “Robot” Ellis, comes from a family that has been a part of the Jamaican entertainment industry for over 60 years. His uncle, Alson Ellis, is a pioneer of the rock steady era, who was honored by the Jamaican government with the “Order of Distinction,” and his Aunt Hortense Ellis was the first Jamaican woman ever to record a song. Aston has performed for over 25 years throughout the United States, Jamaica, Asian and England. Aston also plays the steel pan which was recently added to give the band the extra calypso and soca flavor.
