Event to benefit the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation
Saratoga Springs, NY – David Cassidy’s long-time band members will reunite in Saratoga Springs, NY to celebrate the life and music of the legendary mega-performer and international superstar for a special tribute concert that will take place on Tuesday, August 14th at 7:30 PM. The concert will feature performances from Cassidy’s final EP and recording Songs My Father Taught Me and will be the first time his band has performed together since he passed away on November 21, 2017.
Band members attending, some of whom were featured on the recent A&E special – David Cassidy: The Last Session, are Teri Cote (drums/vocals); Craig Snider“Craig J.” (keyboards/vocals); Matt “Sully” Sullivan (guitar/vocals); Vance Brescia (guitar/vocals) and Darrell Craig Harris (bass/vocals).
Renowned horse trainer and long-time Cassidy friend Gary Contessa will join the band on bass guitar as a special tribute to David at this bittersweet concert.
“On behalf of all of the members of the David Cassidy Band, we are very excited about the upcoming, estate-approved concert in Saratoga Springs, NY, to pay tribute to our close friend, David Cassidy,” said Teri Cote.
The concert will benefit the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (The TRF), a non-profit organization that saves horses no longer able to compete on the racetrack, from neglect, abuse and slaughter. The TRF is the largest equine sanctuary in the world devoted to the rescue, retirement, and retraining of retired race horses. Added Cote: “The TRF was very close to David’s heart. He deeply cared about the aftercare of Thoroughbred horses, once they were no longer able to compete on the racetrack.” “We find it a special opportunity to partner with the TRF for this benefit concert performed on Cassidy’s final album, Songs My Father Taught Me, which is currently No.1 (as of June 13) among Amazon’s best-selling jazz recordings.
In addition to his extensive music and acting career, David Cassidy was a race horse owner, breeder and former resident of Saratoga – his favorite place on earth. He was greatly loved by the Saratoga and racehorse communities and in addition to his support of the TRF, he assisted many causes, including those that helped children, the handicapped, animal welfare, and research for Alzheimer’s, a disease that claimed his mother in 2012.
